The Importance Of Flower Care By You, Your Florist And The Flower Grower to Ensure You Receive Flower Life You Deserve

The Importance Of Flower Care By You, Your Florist And The Flower Grower to Ensure You Receive Flower Life You Deserve

While a flower is attached to the plant it continually receives nourishment allowing it to grow and develop. When cut from the plant it loses its source of nourishment and water. That is why all water used by St Anne's Florist and put in all of our arrangements is treated with Chrysal cut flower plant food.

The health, beauty and vibrance of freshly cut flowers rely on a combination of proper care and handling procedures from the grower to the consumer. By following some simple guidelines including sanitation, temperature control, proper nourishment and hydration it is possible to extend the lives of cut flowers which enhances consumer satisfaction.

 FLOWER CARE TIPS

Buy your flowers from reputable, responsible sources that follow proper care and handling procedures. St Anne's Florist purchasers from the best available growers and wholesalers that follow industry best practices.

Clean containers and tools daily then flower buckets at least once a week to eliminate the presence of bacteria.

Receive and process flowers immediately upon receipt from your supplier checking for damage, wilting, mildew, bacterial growth and insects.

Place newly re-cut flowers in a Chrysal floral nutrient and water solution. Remove any foliage that falls below the water line as foliage in water promotes the growth of harmful bacteria. Let the flowers stand at room temperature for approximately one hour to achieve the process called 'hardening off.'

Know your water. Water composition varies from one source to another therefore your specific floral nutrient requirements may vary as well.

To ensure the proper mixture of water and floral nutrient follow the directions on the package. For maximum efficiency in dispensing the proper nutrient solution install an automatic dispensing system.

Educate yourself to the characteristics, specific care and handling requirements of different flower varieties, i.e. the proper handling of flowers sensitive to ethylene gas.

Chrysal Flower Food (which St Anne's Florist puts in all of its water that goes into our arrangements and buckets in the shop) Increases flower life by up to 50- 60 percent, improves colour and scent and is suitable for all flower types.

Benefits include:

·         Keeps flowers and foliage  in optimum condition

·         Improved opening of flowers and better colour retention

·         Stimulates water uptake

·         Improves the vase life

·         Optimizes water uptake, which prevents 'bent-neck'

Sunflowers Are Stocked By St Anne's Florist And Gift Baskets Perth

Sunflowers (Helianthus) are universally loved for their happy smiling faces and are a popular flower to send to males because of their strong masculine appearance. Their botanical name Helianthus comes from Greek origins - Helios means sun and anthos means flower.

There are about 150 different species of herbaceous annual and perennial sunflowers throughout the world, although they mostly appear in the Americas where they have been adapted to a wide range of climates. where humans have gone, sunflowers have followed because of the food value of their seeds which are an important source of vegetable oil. The sunflower is the national flower of the United States.

It is amazing to see a field full of sunflowers, following the sun in its days travel over head. the face of the sunflowers consists of an outer rim of daisy like petals and a centre crammed with seeds in a honeycomb pattern. the flowers are typically yellow, with a green, brown or near black centre. the double forms of the sunflower have fluffy yellow petals.

The giant head annual sunflowers are better loved then their smaller flower perennial varieties. Their flower heads can vary considerably in size from approximately 15-25 cm across, to the smaller ones at just 2.5cm in diameter. Once cut, the flowers need plenty of water and when being transported should be done so in water.

Information About Tulips Available In Perth From St Anne's Florist & Gift Baskets

Tulips (Tulipa Gesneriana) are a popular great looking cut flower. Tulips derive their name from the Persian word meaning 'turban covered head' which is a great description of their distinctive shape.

Four hundred years of Tulip plant breeding has resulted in an enormous variety of Tulips, and the period of availability seems to be lengthening every year. When the northern hemisphere Tulip growers are preparing to plant their autumn bulbs, tulips are sprouting in Australia.
As tulips are seasonal, the availability cannot be guaranteed all year round, Perth availability is usually in the months of May until October, however are sometimes available from imports or eastern states

A popular variety are Parrot Tulips, known as Parakeet Tulips in Holland. They cannot always support themselves due to their flower head size, so their heads droop and twist.

If you are lucky enough to receive Tulips, make sure you cut off approximately 2.5 centimetres off the bottom of the stem on an angle with sharp scissors and strip the lower foliage.Top up the container you arrange your tulips in as they are very heavy drinkers. They should last in water for at least five to eight days.

St Anne's Florist and Gift Baskets has a large range of Perth Tulips available for Perth Delivery. Tulips can be ordered securely online at http://www.stannesflorist.com.au/ 24 hours a day, over the telephone on 08 9388 8844  or come into our Perth Florist Shop at 263 Hay Street Subiaco Western Australia 6008

All florists employed by St Anne's Florist and Gift Baskets have completed a Certificate in Floral Design (or its overseas equivalent), with extensive on the job training and experience ensuring that the highest standard of design is applied to all of our floral arrangements, gift baskets and gift hampers.

Free Delivery Doesn't Always Mean You're Getting A Better Deal Or Saving Money.....

Don't get caught out!! There are many Florists around Perth and throughout the whole of Australia that offer 'Free Delivery' when you order flowers or gift baskets from them. Flower buyers need to be aware that often you are NOT getting a good deal at all!
In fact the money that you think is solely going into the value of the flowers, the retailers are taking out a delivery fee from the total amount paid without your knowledge. Or if they are not taking out a charge for delivery they will often use lower quality or less flowers or products to make up for not charging for delivery.

Can you imagine ordering flowers to send to a friend, colleague or loved one from a florist offering 'Free Delivery', you pay $100 for what you think should be a nice arrangement however the florist takes out some $15-$25 to cover their delivery to a suburb of Perth without your knowledge. The result is the recipient only receives flowers worth $75!! A lot smaller than the one you would of been expecting to be delivered!!!

The consumer needs to ask the florists who offers 'Free Delivery' the actual value and size of the arrangement or flower bouquet that will be sent out.  As the saying goes 'there's never a free lunch', and in Floristry 'theres never free delivery', the consumer pays for it one way or the other!!

St Anne's Florist and Gift Baskets Perth charge a delivery fee depending on the distance from our Subiaco florist shop - we are up front with the delivery fees payable so that the amount you pay for your flowers you actually receive!!!. If you order a $100 flower arrangement or Flower bouquet then that is what the recipient will receive, $100 worth of flowers!!!
